Stunning Grenache from Rié and Hirofumi Shoji. Crafted from fifty-year-old vines rooted in granite and schist at 300-400m altitude in Collioure, Roussillon. Harvested in two stages, the grapes were whole-bunch fermented for a month and then aged for a year in various-sized old barrels. The result is a deeply colored, beautifully perfumed wine, with layers of dark fruit, mineral depth, and a touch of briny salinity.
