Attention wine lovers and lovers of wine lovers, we have some very exciting news.
Oranj is collaborating on a Valentine’s Day wine case with none other than Margot and Fergus Henderson of Rochelle Canteen and St John respectively.
That’s right, the couple at the helm of London’s most timeless, iconic restaurants have meticulously selected six of their favourites, a kind of testament to their enduring love and the impact they’ve had on London’s restaurant scene.
Whether your lover is the kind of person looking to impress friends with their very own nose-to-tail inspired dinner party or they just love the idea of a box curated by restaurant royalty, this is the perfect gift to charm food-obsessed and wine loving partners alike.
Each box contains 6 wines accompanied by an information booklet. The box will include the following bottles:
Domaine Gresser • Crémant D’Alsace • NV • Alsace, France • Pinot Blanc, Riesling • Sparkling “A lovely gentle sparkle that lifts the spirits, perfect for one or many glasses. A fresh clean flavour, reminding one of all the joys of spring that are just around the corner.”
Domaine François Crochet • Sancerre Blanc • 2022 • Loire, France • Sauvignon Blanc • White “I think oysters at this moment, Fergus sadly can't eat oysters, but I would be slurping them down with this Sancerre. A brilliant winemaker who also makes St John's house claret. A fresh clean flavour that we love and has that minerally taste from the limestone. Slips down with grace and love, baby.”
Marchesi Di Pianogrillo • Flâneur • 2021 • Sicily, Italy • Grillo • Skin Contact “This organic wine made with Grillo grape is close to an orange wine, so it felt it should go in. It's fresh and bright with that fantastic minerally background. There are flavours of citrus, apple, and bunches of roses, making it a crowd-pleasing medium-bodied wine. Made with much love and attention to really good winemaking.”
A Vita • Rosato • 2020 • Calabria, Italy • Gaglioppo • Rose “Love this wine summer or winter, cold and refreshing good with a Dover sole for 2. It has notes of days by the sea, walking with wind in your hair. It's vibrant, intense, and exciting. We would enjoy this also with something cooked slow and gently, sticky and unctuous, something like Osso Buco, a beautiful soothing warm dish.”
St John • House Claret • 2019 • Bordeaux, France • Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec • Red “Great value and elegant. Warming with good fruit flavours, this red is a very drinkable wine. Brilliant with beef or veal, fruity and joyful, good to snuggle up with and get cozy. We are very fond of this and enjoy a glass or two at home together with a plate of pasta.”
Famille Dutraive • Fleurie La Madone • 2018 • Beaujolais, France • Gamay • Red "Fergus has a long love affair with Fleurie, and when we started to romance, it was often a bottle of Fleurie. On our honeymoon, we went every day to Le Rubis and had a bottle or two of Fleurie. Very happy days indeed. So a romantic wine for Fergus and me. This is a great example of Gamay, what a bright and joyful grape. This wine is made with great skill. A sophisticated wine that goes really well with food. I get lamb chops and green sauce with this, goat cheese, and all those yummy things that wine helps along"
