2019 was a dry, warm vintage, so this is powerful and rich Chenin, but it’s also remarkably vibrant. The forty-year-old vines grow on a schist terroir adjacent to the esteemed Les Noels De Montbenaul plot from Richard Leroy, and after whole bunches are directly-pressed, the juice is aged on its lees in barrel, before bottling without filtration, fining, and only minimal levels of sulphur added. Concentrated and intense, this is drinking well now, but will only get better with cellar time.
