An orange wine for white wine drinkers, but a white for the orange brigade. If we had a bar this would be one of our house wines. Low alcohol, bright, fresh and zippy, subtly saline, and dare we say it, ‘smashable’. It’s hard not to, when a wine forces you to go back, so very quickly, before you notice the bottle is already empty. On this number, Manual Valenzuela chooses to use just a smidgen of skin contact for local grape ‘Vigiriega’, grown between the Sierra Nevada and the Mediterranean. Interesting fact, Manuel had to flee his home in Grenada from the Franco regime before only returning to Alpujarras in 1979 where he had to revive vineyards that were decimated by phylloxera. Manuel and his family are incredible wine makers and should be celebrated far more than they are right now in the UK.
