The Vitovska from Azienda Zidarich is an excellent introduction to the wines from Karst, situated in the region many consider the home for production of serious Italian amber wine; Friuli Venezia-Giulia. Complex and bold yet fresh on the palate with gentle tannins and persistent aromas of dried white stone fruit, white flowers, orange zest, cloves, smoke, leading to a savoury and refreshingly mineral finish. Farmed organically, the grapes are harvested by hand and de-stemmed before macerating and ageing on skins for 24 months in Slavonian oak. Pair it with white meats, hard cheeses  and let it open up over a long gastronomic evening.
