Grenache from a small parcel grown on schist soils about 3 hundred metres from the med, on sheer shale terraces, constantly battered by the wind in the hills above Banyuls-sur-Mer. Vines are looked after without machines or chemicals but by hand and mule. This was made by Manuel Di Vecchi Stara’s assistant Francesco. After a few hours on skins, the fruit was gently pressed and aged in old barrels for a year. This resulted in a deeply ruby wine with a compact structure—sophisticated, intense, wild cliff-facing bramble-y, with a saline minerality.
