Pinot Noir from the Auvergne tends towards an earthier, smokier expression of the grape, and this is on display here. From two parcels of vines at varying elevations planed over iron-rich volcanic soils, the wine goes through two months of whole-bunch maceration followed by two years in 1000ltr stoneware jars. A savoury pinot with lovely fruit too, the dusty tannins are calling out for it to be enjoyed with game, duck, or grilled mushrooms.
