Stunning energy and finesse, and plentiful fruit in this Chardonnay from marly soils in Péronne in the Mâconnais. The vines were planted in the late 1980s, with fermentation taking place in used 228L and 600L barrels, ageing for 18 months in the same barrels, before assembling in stainless steel tanks for 2 weeks, and bottling without filtration and fining, with miniscule levels of sulphur added, if at all. Elegant, clean, mineral, with attractive zesty bitters.
