Olla Blanc, 2021 - Matassa
A fresh, textured, salty macabeu and muscat orange made by Tom Lubbe of Matassa is always going to be special isnt it. Whole bunch carbonic fermentation. Maceration 1 week in tank, elevage in tank and large wood. At 10% abv, this could almost be classed as juice, but somehow he squeezes bundles of complexity within. Certainly a wine for spring.
Bianco #3, 2020 - Ajola
Only 300 bottles made. Half of the fruits were fermented on skins for 3 days, the others aged for 3 weeks. Lightly fizzy, spiced, refreshing, very quaffable.
End Grain, 2020 - Tillingham
Our first wine out of East Sussex’s Tillingham this year. Blend of grapes macerated for up to 10 days making for a skins-y white / orange wine. Tastes zesty, saline and like white peaches.
